Toroawhi, meaning ‘together we create change’, are roving worker engagement champions who coach and mentor forestry crews on-site on certification, site safety, wellbeing, and mental health.
Engagement of the whole crew is essential in fostering safe and healthy workplace cultures. Each with extensive industry experience, Toroawhi visit forestry crews within their region to talk informally about wellbeing and health and safety, and provide a contact point for ongoing support. They help build a culture of openness and appreciation, which has resulted in positive impacts on key business outcomes including productivity, reduced absenteeism, and improved health and safety.
Currently in the pilot stage, Toroawhi are active in the Central North Island and Tairawhiti/Gisborne regions.
